I made plans to hang out with Paddy on Sunday since I didn’t rendezvous with him on New Year’s Eve. Paddy arrived at my house with Bradly, a stunningly-handsome young man. Bradly was Paddy’s date from Saturday night. The date never ended and now I was part of it. Bradly was twenty-nine. He had that rare combination of a charming boyish face while simultaneously being manly and hairy. Paddy sure has a knack for meeting handsome men.
I was soon in the back of Paddy’s car flying down I-25 headed to the Black Forest. The plan was to watch the Bronco’s game at Paddy’s best friend’s house, who is a divorced mother of two. Paddy filled me in on his New Year’s Eve with London on the drive.
London takes Adderall for ADHD. He also likes to smoke pot and drinks vodka martinis. New Year’s Eve was no different. London was out of control. He got into three bar fights at the first club and a fourth at another. London was too drunk to get into an after-hours party so Paddy hired an Uber downtown. London was dropped off at his condo on Paddy’s way home. Paddy arrived home a little after three. Paddy was floored to find out the Uber, which was normally $30, cost $275. I am so happy I chose to stay home instead of meeting up with Paddy and London.
The afternoon in the Black Forest turned out to be a lot of fun. The hostess was a hoot. Her boyfriend was hot. The oldest daughter, who was fourteen, watched numerous videos on how to do a smoky eye. The youngest daughter, who was six, was like a Tasmanian devil. I think she had too much sugar. The Bronco’s win meant playoff frenzy was underway. Chinese takeout was ordered for dinner. Beer and a dog fight made the day complete.
I got to know Bradly on the way home. He seemed to be a great guy with bright future. I hope Paddy keeps this one around for a while. He’s ever bit as handsome as London but isn’t a train wreck. At least, at this point, I don’t think he’s a train wreck.
It was a great end to the holiday season.
