Sentence Of The Day

Here’s a sentence from an email I received this morning:

Their seems to be a problem with the plant in Manila so your going to have to halt selling the product until fourth quarter but that will be revenue affecting so we may have so see if the product can me manufactured in China but if it does then the U.S Government will not buy the product which further affacts the revenue stream so I’m not really sure what needs to be done so we’d better bring this issue up at the staff meeting tomorrow.

What a doozey! The author probably got a degree from that notorious diploma mill in Arizona. I’m guessing they may also be allergic to commas and periods.

Another Acquisition

I picked this piece up at the Gayla Lemke show at Edge Gallery a few weeks ago. It’s small piece. I like its whimsy. Do you think it is male or female?

Signing Bonus

I took the plunge and finally bought a painting from Mai Wyn. I’ve been admiring her work for a while. I consider it a signing bonus I paid myself for becoming gainfully employed. I bought the painting last weekend when I was gallery hopping with Cindi. I need to pick the piece up tomorrow.

Paddy has been tending to Mai Wyn’s tresses in exchange for a painting. It costs several hundred dollars to sit in Paddy’s chair so he’s going to end up with one of her large scale paintings. It’s a win/win for both.

You can watch a short video of Mai Wyn by clicking the link above. It was shot before Paddy started cutting her hair.

Life Is Good

Life is good for me but several of my friends are in transition. Paddy’s new boyfriend moved in after four months of dating. It’s not going well. Cindi has decided to liquidate her business after seventeen years. She’s trying to reinvent her life. Mack may have to move in with his father who lives in Phoenix. He has no money and can’t make ends meet on part-time work at Crate & Barrel. He’s borrowed money from all of his friends. It’s going to be an interesting summer.

Self-Portrait

After the art tour, I took Cindi by her warehouse so she could get pick up her laptop. I had to stop for what seemed like a two-thousand car freight train just two blocks from the warehouse. I snapped a few pics as the train sped by. To my surprise, some turned out to be a self-portraits.

More on the art tour later. I may, or may not, have picked up something at Mai Wynn Fine Art.

Fun At Space

Perry and I attended the opening at Space Gallery tonight. It was more of a collector’s crowd than a First Friday crowd. The men were handsomely dressed and a lot of the women were in dresses and four-inch heels. The art was abstract and colorful. It was a fun night. Another round of openings is slated for Friday night. I’m looking forward to the end of the work week.

At times, I forget to be grateful for my life. I go to work, go to the gym, eat, keep house, tend to the yard, spend money, pay bills, hang out with friends and hit the gallery openings. I get to do what I want, when I want. I forget how blessed I am to have the life I have. Then something happens that shakes me to the core.

Jacqueline invited Paddy and me to a fundraiser on Saturday night for a dance company she supports. In addition to being a hair stylist, Jacqueline also teaches yoga and dance along with being a massage therapist. She lends her considerable talents to the dance troupe.

The dance troupe welcomes all. Some dancers are blind, some are deaf, several are confined to wheelchairs and a few are professional dancers. The dancers include children, teenagers and adults.

The benefit was a two-act performance at the Colorado Ballet’s rehearsal space. The highlight of the evening was a performance that started out with a solo by thirty-something paraplegic man. The man could only slightly move one arm. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

A year earlier, the man was riding his bike when he was hit by a car. His life changed in an instant.

I felt like I had been slapped in the face. I take so much of my life for granted. I often forget how fortunate I am.

Too Thin?

IMG_2759 (2)
I saw this woman at the gym yesterday while I was doing cardio. I’ve never seen her before. I was shocked by how thin she was yet she was doing cardio. I wondered if she was recovering from an illness, had an eating disorder, or was just a naturally thin person.

IT Humor

I needed a login to access a database I use in my new job. I had to open a ticket with the IT helpdesk in order to request a login id. The new login id was emailed with the default password of CBGBOMFUG. At least someone in IT has a sense of humor. Do you get it? If not, click here.
